On 26th of December, International Educational Opportunities Forum was held in Baku, Azerbaijan. The authorities shared the final report of the year on the education of international students, spoke about the statistics of foreigners studying in our country where they announced the number of international students studying in Azerbaijan exceeding ten thousand, the ranking of our higher education institutions in international rankings, and participation in exchange programs with the participants of the event. Later on, panel discussions were held on the topics of " How to recruit or expand the capacity for international students" and "Participation in the international rankings and accreditations of programs". Apart from local higher education institutions authorities, International students from Azerbaijan State University of Languages and Baku Engineering University - Kibriyo Inamova and Abdullah Muhammed Azaruddin shared their experiences and opinions on the panel discussions. At the end of the day, 8 successful higher education institutions and 4 international students were awarded for their active involvement in the 2022/2023 education year. Then, students shared the stage where they performed beautiful songs and narrated poems which were highly appreciated by the participants of the event.

A webinar titled "Education's role in promoting global peace and understanding" was held as part of "International Education Week 2023".  At the initiative of the Council of Europe, a number of events are traditionally carried out every year within the framework of the "Global Education Week" in different countries of the world in order to create a better world and increase awareness of the importance of education. In our country, within the framework of "Global Education Week 2023", a webinar called "The role of education in promoting global peace and understanding" was held under the organization of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.    Professor Scherto Gill, director of the "Global Humanity for Peace Institute" of the University of Wales, department head of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Secretary of the National Coordinating Council for Sustainable Development Huseyn Huseynov participated in the meeting. After the opening speech of Muzhdat Hasanov, the sector head of the international cooperations department, Professor Scherto Gill talked about the understanding between cultures, the globalization of education, and the integration of the topic of peace into the education system. Later, Huseyn Huseynov talked about the steps taken to ensure peace in the world and society, the "5P" - people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership goals within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals, which are global goals, and the importance of education in promoting peace in post-war societies.    The meeting was also attended by foreign students studying in Azerbaijan through the UNHCR scholarship, educational grant programs for citizens of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement, and Azerbaijani youth studying abroad within the framework of State Programs and Intergovernmental Scholarship Programs. At the end of the webinar, students studying in different countries addressed their questions to the guests and shared their experiences of studying abroad. 

In order to ensure the social activity of foreign students, and at the same time, to get acquainted with the measures taken to protect the environment on a national scale, an information tour to the industrial fields of "Təmiz Şəhər" was organized for over 20 international students from more than 10 higher education institutions studying in Azerbaijan. “Təmiz Şəhər” industrial company is one of the main means to develop reproduction in the country within the framework of the "2011-2013 State Program on the Socio-Economic Development of Baku City and its Settlements" approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev dated May 4, 2011. The main goal in creating this park is to create favorable conditions for potential entrepreneurs and investors interested in the field of reproduction. International students with the guidance of representatives of “Təmiz Şəhər” were introduced with the process of waste sorting and sending to recycling facilities at the “Balakhani Solid Waste Sorting Plant” , the recycling process and burning of solid household waste. At the end, the questions of interest to the students were answered by the representatives and memory photos were taken.
