On April 27-28 the staff members of the International Cooperation Office of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University Parvin Azizova and Narmin Hamidli attended the international education fair titled “Education 2017” organized by Atyrau Oil and Gas University of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The main objective of participation in the fair was to showcase ASOIU to Atyrau schoolchildren, students, and graduates, provide information on the university’s academic and international activities and motivate the Kazakh pupils and students to apply to our university. During the fair, ASOIU staff talked about the university’s available education programs and the convenient education and living conditions created for international students. The students of the industrial city Atyrau showed keen interest in studying at ASOIU and Baku, and the staff collected the contacts of the students interested in studying at our university. ASOIU staff also met with the Vice-Rector of Atyrau Oil and Gas University Prof A.B. Maydirova and held discussions on cooperation opportunities. The next meeting was with the plenipotentiary representative of the Institute of Training and Retraining of Industrial Enterprise Employees in Atyrau S.E. Jamanbayev. The poet’s great-grandson, “Laureate of the Presidential Prize for Youth” and a student of the Musical Academy of France “Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris- Alfred Cortot” Vurgun Vekilov informed the students about the museum in detail. He made them familiar with the newly established exposition “Generation of 60s”. Portraits of the prominent representatives of 60s, People’s Artist Sattar Bahlulzade’s spreadsheet, paintings by the People’s Poet Vagif Samadoghlu and his poetry written in 60s under the nickname “Samizdat” and the household things that were popular in these years and displayed here were of great interest by overseas students. V. Vekilov performed classical Azerbaijani music on the grand piano used by the prominent composers Uzeyir Hajibeyli and Gara Garayev upon a time for UNEC students. Students who expressed their great impressions about the reeds and rifle exhibited in Samad Vurgun’s home- museum sounded poet’s poem “Azerbaijan” in Azerbaijani in the end. Show moreInternational students of UNEC visited the “Shot Monuments” placed in the garden of the National Art Museum on the eve of the “International Monuments and Historical Places Day”. The visit initiated by the fourth- year undergraduate students of the Russian School of Economics majoring in Marketing under the motto “Walk, See, Know, Share” who pass internship in UNEC’s Marketing and Communication Department. The interns provided the overseas students with expanded information about Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s, Bulbul’s and Khurshidbanu Natavan’s shot monuments. They informed that these statues were taken back from the invaders after the National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s intervention and brought to the capital. After the restoration work held in the National Art Museum, it was decided to demonstrate the statues in the garden of the museum. UNEC students stressed that Armenians destroyed hundreds of historical monuments in the occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories. Foreign students took the photos of the statues and shared them in social networking tagging as #ShotMonuments#Karabagh. They added their impressions to photos. Overseas students condemned the Armenian atrocities caused to cultural monuments. Show moreMinistry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 5 April, 2017 organized a trip to the Jojug Marjanli village of the Jabrayil district. APA reports that Deputy Minister of Education Firudun Gurbanov, a group of foreign students studying at the Azerbaijani universities and media representatives took part in the trip. Gurbanov informed foreign students about the history of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Speaking about the atrocities committed by Armenians in the Jojug Marjanli village, the deputy minister noted that the village was occupied by Armenian armed forces in 1993. “It was liberated by the Azerbaijani army from the Armenian occupation during the Horadiz operation in 1994. Living in the village has been impossible till the April battles occurred in 2016, as Lele Tepe height was under Armenian occupation. However, after the liberation of the height by the Azerbaijani armed forces, safely living in the village became possible,” he said. Gurbanov noted that as a result of occupation, one school and one library were destroyed in Jojug Marjanli. The students were informed about the restoration measures, mine clearance and construction work that are being conducted under the presidential order in Jojug Marjanli village. The students familiarized with the construction work at a newly established school in Jojug Marjanli. They were informed that the construction of the school where 15 students will study at, was started in February this year.
